The Marine Society & Sea Cadets

Our role is to provide personal development opportunities and support in a maritime context for young people and professional seafarers from all the sea services.

Summer 2007

Highlights include Michael Grey’s article on the evolution of communication between ship and shore; Dr Eric Grove talks about the part played by the Merchant Navy in the Falklands conflict; and Amy Nicolson looks at the history and practice of enforcing borders at sea.

The MSSC has a remit to promote careers at sea and the summer edition contains a section looking at the opportunities available including interviews with two Merchant Navy Cadets, Jack Walden and Peter Stamp. The magazine also contains a ‘step by step’ guide to how to embark upon a career at sea.
